Pheasants Forever Chapter #399 Academic Scholarship

The Shiawassee County Chapter #399 of Pheasants Forever is pleased to announce they will be offering a $3,000 scholarship to a senior who attends a Shiawassee county school, wishing to further their education at the college level.  The scholarship money will be offered in two parts for use of tuition, books and learning materials; $1,500 will be awarded initially and a second payment of $1,500 will be awarded upon proof 2.75 GPA after 1st semester.

The applicant qualifications are as follows:

  • Be actively enrolled in a Shiawassee County School
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Plans to pursue a degree in Ag Sciences, including but not limited to: Biology, Grassland management, Conservation Management, Conservation Officer, Crop and Soil Sciences including AG/Science teacher or studies related to employment at a Soil Conservation District

Applicants need to provide:

  • A legible handwritten or typed letter explaining your school career achievements, participation in groups, organizations, community involvement, employment, etc.
  • An essay of 300-500 words explaining the importance of wildlife habitat, your ties to habitat, educational goals for the future, and what sets you apart from other applicants.

A Chapter Representative will reach out to the winner’s high school Counselor no later than February 15, 2024.  The scholarship winner will receive recognition and a complimentary reserved table of eight at the Chapter’s Annual Banquet on March 9, 2024.  Scholarship winner is encouraged to include family and an influential teacher, school principal, superintendent, or school counselor at the event.
